A Book Lover’s Guide To OneRepublic

If there are two things that I love to do, it’s to read books and listen to music. So, I’ve combined these two spectacular past-times and decided to honour my favorite band, OneRepublic, by dedicating books to their songs.

A while back, something called the “Book Playlist Tag” took the internet- or the bookish part of it, at least- by storm and I’m attempting kind of the same thing but I’ve twisted some rules.

These are just random OneRepublic songs which remind me of a book- maybe because of their lyrics or songs or just the melody.

Stop and Stare

A book with a beautiful cover.

Stop and stare
You start to wonder why you’re here not there
And you’d give anything to get what’s fair
But fair ain’t what you really need
Oh, can you see what I see’

For this, I’d have to say-

This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab

A Thousand Pieces Of You by Claudia Gray

Come Home

A book that reminds you of your home ❤

I get lost in the beauty
Of everything I see
The world ain’t half as bad
As they paint it to be
If all the sons,
All the daughters
Stopped to take it in
Well hopefully the hate subsides and the love can begin
It might start now, yeah
Well maybe I’m just dreaming out loud
Until then…

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

Good Life

A Dystopian novel that makes you feel better about your own life (lol ironic)

Say oh, got this feeling that you can’t fight
Like this city is on fire tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life

Is this even a surprise….

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Really wouldn’t want to live in that world.

Everybody Loves Me

A book that everyone loves but you hate

Oh my!
Feels just like I don’t try
Looks so good I might die
All I know is everybody loves me
Head down,
Swaying to my own sound
Flashes in my face now
All I know is everybody loves me
Everybody loves me

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

I have so many issues with this book, it’s not even funny. I loved The Hunger Games but Catching Fire and Mockingjay just disappointed me, I’m sorry. I bet I would’ve liked the books loads more if not for the damn love triangle.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

I didn’t hate this book, mind you, but the end (the huge spoiler) just ruined it for me. Even if it wasn’t…. you know, true.

Let’s Hurt Tonight

A book that has a lot of killing and blood

So I’ll hit the lights and you lock the doors
We ain’t leaving this room ’til we both feel more
Don’t walk away, don’t roll your eyes
They say love is pain, well darling, let’s hurt tonight

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

Let’s just say that Sabaa Tahir never flinches from showing violence.

Dreaming Out Loud

A book you’ve read the most fan-fiction about

I’m dreamin’ out loud,
Dreamin’ out loud,
And all at once it’s so familiar to see,
I’m dreamin’ out loud,
Dreamin’ out loud,
Can’t find a puzzle to fit into piece apart of me

Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

Man, so much fan-fiction.

One of your favorite childhood books

I remember,
We were sleeping in cars
We were searching for OZ
We were burning cigars
With the white plastics tips ’til we saw the sun

The Circus of Adventure by Enid Blyton

Basically, all of Enid Blyton’s book.

Au Revoir

A book with a sad, unconventional ending.

We’ll find other pieces to the puzzles
Slipping out under the locks
I can show you how many moves to check mate right now
We can take apart this life we’re building
And pack it up inside a box
All that really matters is we’re doing it right now
Right now

The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman

Oh, Will and Lyra ❤

A book with insta-love.

Yeah I just want my love automatic
If artificial love makes sense
I just want your love, I’m an addict
Artificial intelligence

Where should I start.

Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins

I was going to say The Fault In Our Stars (even though I love it) because it’s totally insta-love too or The Chemist by Stephanie Meyer (which is even worse and I so do not love it) but whatever. There are too many books for me to list.

A book with a huge plot twist

Tell me what you want to hear
Something that will light those ears
Sick of all the insincere
I’m gonna give all my secrets away

We Were Liars by e. lockhart

There you go! I hope you enjoyed this tag and let me know down below the books you’d dedicate to your favorite band’s or artist’s songs.
